Many Simmers have relied on Custom-Content to improve those aspects of the game - especially if they only own the base game. However, there is still plenty of room to improve base features.
The Sims 4 has come a long way and is rather inclusive in its character creation. Not everyone has the same hair type, and customization shouldn't be limited to specific hair styles. Even an option to go between straight, wavy or curly for certain styles would mean a lot. Perhaps on top of adding sliders to hair color, Create-A-Sim's system of dragging features to alter a Sim's looks could be extended to hair to create shorter or longer styles and alter thickness or texture. Hair has suffered a similar fate, where it's extremely limited, both in the number of styles and color options. Adding the same options as the makeup sliders would allow players to customize a default swatch's colors, giving Simmers the ability to match their homes and better express themselves. The Sims 4 has limited options for colors and some swatches - unless players own many expansions and game packs - in clothing, hair, furniture, walls and floors. RELATED: The Sims Games Ranked, According to Critics The Sims 4, and possibly The Sims 5, may not see the return of Create-A-Style or endless pattern options, but for now, adding these sliders to swatch presets would be enough. It seems like EA may finally be listening to the community, but it needs to go further. Simmers finally have something resembling the level of customization in The Sims 3 by choosing how to alter colors and opacity. EA said some options cause issues and its team is looking into fixing this for the future, but it also stated some makeup types or colors didn't make sense to customize - which seems a bit ridiculous. In most cases, dark makeup doesn't have any of these options and most blush doesn't have it either. It adds options for opacity, brightness and in some cases, hue. However, not all of these options apply to every type of makeup. The new update includes skin tone customization sliders, hairstyle updates and makeup sliders.
